Fairtrade fortnight is here and this year it’s all about showing off your label – shouting loud and proud about fair trade. It’s not hard now to find beautiful fair trade clothing and homewares both online and on the high street but for my first Fairtrade fortnight post I want to celebrate one of the Fair trade pioneers -
People Tree. They have a concession store in Topshop’s flagship store, they have won many awards, they are one of the best known ethical brands and they most recently have worked with Emma Watson to create a stylish collection good enough for
ASOS!
Emma Watson has collaborated on her final range for People Tree which has been released to coincide with Fairtrade Fortnight. It is so lovely to see that she is hands on with the project as she has travelled to Bangladesh to see how collection was made and also to get a first-hand account of the benefits of the label - “It was an incredible and life-changing experience - I really wish everyone had the chance to see the difference Fair Trade makes with their own eyes." (Take that
Philip Booth!)
Also this month Laura Ashley will be launching their first collaboration with People Tree. Three original Laura Ashley prints from their 1970s archive were re-coloured in contemporary shades and printed onto 100% organic and fair trade cotton silhouettes.
It looks wonderful - I particularly love the shorts. Most pieces can be found on the People Tree website
here if you can't wait to the Laura Ashley launch
